Containerized Tank Cleaning Oil Sludge Treatment System for Europe Customer

This week, GN Separation has successful completed the factory trial installation for one set Oil Sludge Treatment System. This is marks a critical step in ensuring the system’s readiness for deployment, with engineers conducting rigorous tests to validate module connectivity, equipment functionality, and overall system integration ahead of final shipment. Designed to address the growing challenges of industrial oil sludge management, the containerized solution combines efficiency, mobility, and precision engineering to deliver a reliable performance.

Purpose of the Factory Trial Installation

The trial installation, conducted at GN Separation’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, served as a comprehensive pre-delivery quality assurance process. By assembling the system in a controlled environment, engineers could identify and resolve potential issues related to inter-module connections, piping alignment, electrical wiring, and automation control. This proactive approach minimizes risks during on-site commissioning, ensuring seamless operation for clients and reducing downtime.

Containerized Design for Mobility and Efficiency

GN oil sludge treatment system features a modular, containerized design. Each subsystem is housed within standardized shipping containers, enabling easy transportation, rapid installation, and scalable deployment. This approach is particularly advantageous for remote or offshore sites, where space and logistical constraints are common.

Key benefits of the containerized design include:

Plug-and-Play Installation: Pre-assembled modules reduce on-site labor and commissioning time.
Weatherproof Durability: Enclosed containers protect equipment from harsh environmental conditions, extending operational lifespan.
Compact Footprint: The system occupies minimal space while maintaining high throughput capacity, ideal for crowded industrial sites.

Core Modules of GN oil Sludge Treatment System

The OSTS comprises several primary modules, each engineered to perform a specific role in the separation workflow:

1. Pre-Mixing Tank Module
As the system’s initial processing stage, this module receives raw oil sludge and conditions it through a series of treatments such as chemical dosing, thermal conditioning and dilution control. The module’s agitator ensures uniform mixing, while level sensors and flow meters provide real-time data for process optimization.

2. Double-Deck Vibrating Screen Module
After pre-treatment, the sludge is pumped to the vibrating screen for coarse solid separation. The dual-deck design enables efficient classification:
Upper Deck: Removes oversized debris such as rocks, plastics, and rags.
Lower Deck: Separates medium-sized solids to prevent clogging in subsequent stages.

3. Hydraulic Decanter Centrifuge Module
At the heart of the OSTS lies the hydraulic decanter centrifuge, a high-performance separator that achieves fine solid-liquid separation. The centrifuge generates forces exceeding 3,000 G, effectively separating solids as small as 2–5 microns. Unlike traditional electric drives, the hydraulic system enables step-less speed adjustment, allowing operators to tailor performance to varying feed compositions. And the hydraulic controls maintain consistent rotational speed, even under fluctuating loads, ensuring reliable operation. The separated liquid phase—a mixture of oil and water—is discharged for further treatment in client-provided oil-water separation device, while the solid cake is collected for disposal or recycling.

4. Chemical Dosing Module
This chemical dosing unit module plays a pivotal role in enhancing separation efficiency:
Dry polymers are mixed with water in a batch tank to form activated flocculants solutions.
De-mulsifier preparation unit is for PH adjustment to realize an oil separation from water and solids.
